Marrakech part II: three must visit hotels you won’t regret!

As you may have read in the articles about Marrakech ‘How to spend three magical days‘ and ‘7 outfits to wear‘, I like to go to Marrakech. I paid a return ticket for 150 euros per person via Ryanair from Eindhoven to Marrakech. If you want a large suitcase you have to pay 30 euros extra, so I bought a vacuum clothing bag with a mini pump for my hand luggage. This allowed me to take 9 outfits with me. It’s very useful!

We had a 2 hour delay at Eindhoven airport, because there was a problem with the front tires. We had to leave the plain and waited for the next one. After flying for 3.5 hours, we arrived at the airport at night in Marrakech. We took a taxi for 20 euros to Riad dar Ten. We tried to negotiate but unfortunately it didn’t work. The drivers often help each other so they know how to drive.

Riad Dar Ten
In Marrakech there are many alleys. It’s a bit scary to walk around 3 o’clock at night. The staff of the riad picked us up. Riad dar Ten is so tiny but so cozy. It is located at the well-known central square Djemaa el Fna. A large market where they sell many Moroccan products. There are also various curiosities to see such as acrobats, storytellers, musicians and so on. The next day we went to the market and we had lunch at Nomad.

The same day we rented a car on internet. We went to Agadir and that is a 3-hour driving from Marrakech. We stopped at the toll road because, according to the police, I was driving 30 km too fast, which was nonsense! He showed it on his phone with the license plate of the car. We had to pay 30 euros. I got a bit nervous because we did not have enough money and paying by card was not possible. Eventually we were able to continue driving after 10 minutes. Can you believe it ?! What a rip-off!

Hyatt Place Taghazout Bay hotel
Driving to Hyatt Place Taghazout Bay hotel was definitely worth it. This hotel is located in Taghazout, a small fishing village in the north of Agadir.
The view with the palm trees was beautiful. The room was large, nice and clean. The staff were also friendly.
If you want to see a nice view in Taghazout then Agadir Oufella is definitely worth it. A mountain with a beautiful view over the village. After that we went to Marina D’agadir. You will find there a harbor with restaurants and shops. The morning ended with a delicious lunch at Le Senso. Nothing goes above a delicious club sandwich with fries 🙂 Hyatt Place Taghazout has a private beach which you can find at Sol House Taghazout Beach. It’s 10 minutes driving from the hotel.

Fairmont Royal Palm Marrakech
At last we went to the hotel Fairmont Royal Palm Marrakech which is located outside the city of Marrakech. Save the best for last, because this 5-star hotel is breathtaking. The staff brought us with the golf car to the room. In one word; WOW! A balcony with a beautiful view. Also the breakfast was delicious! Nothing to criticize about. Everything was perfect! Shout out to the staff, because they had a super nice bathroom decorated with rose petals, lights and even a heart balloon. The setting was beautiful! It’s also possible to go to a wellness to pamper yourself. You can take a traditional hammam treatment. Well worth it if you want to relax.

Furthermore, visiting Yves Saint Laurent Marjorelle garden is also worthwhile. It’s a nice spot to take beautiful pictures. Thousand items from Saint Laurent’s collections are exhibited.
Our flight back
We haven’t experienced our return flight so well with Ryanair. We did’t know that we had to print the airline tickets ourselves. We had to pay 50 extra per person at a service counter because we had not printed the tickets. We also didn’t know why we had to pay that amount, so we said we were not going to do that. So we could not go back to Holland. What a hell was that! We had printed the tickets through another airline company, but unfortunately we were stopped by security, because the Ryanair stamp was missing. And they didn’t want to give us that. FML! Total drama, so we had to buy an extra ticket for the next day. Of course via Transavia! With the taxi we went to a hostel that we had booked through The driver could not find it, so we went to a guesthouse.
It was nevertheless an adventure. Marrakech remains a beautiful city! Only I will never fly via Ryanair again!

With love,

Sandra Espina
